Service Charge Manager

 A leading social housing provider is partnering with Robertson Bell to recruit a Service Charge Manager on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced service charge professional to take ownership of a regional portfolio and lead a small team within a well-established finance function.

The role

Reporting into the wider finance function, you will oversee the delivery of accurate and compliant service charge accounting across your region, ensuring costs are properly managed, recovered and communicated.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Directly manage a team of 4–5 Service Charge Officers.
• Oversee service charge actuals, estimates, audits and year-end processes.
• Ensure service charges are accurately calculated and recovered.
• Monitor locality-level financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide guidance and oversight on complex service charge matters.
• Work closely with colleagues across Finance, Housing and Operations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and organisational policies.
• Support continuous improvement across service charge processes and reporting.
• Act as a key point of contact for service charge queries and escalations.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong experience within service charges, ideally within social housing.
• Previous experience managing or leading a finance/service charge team.
• Strong technical knowledge of service charge accounting, recovery and reconciliation.
• Experience working within a large or complex housing organisation.
• Good understanding of relevant social housing regulation and legislation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The confidence to challenge and provide advice to senior stakeholders.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to managing a busy service.

What’s on offer?

• £65,000 - £70,000 salary.
• Based in Basingstoke, with 2 days per week in the office – one fixed team day and one flexible day.
