Taking ownership of day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
Managing accounts payable, including supplier invoices, expenses and payment runs.
Completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records.
Leading month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations and the preparation of management accounts.
Monitoring cash flow and supporting the development of financial forecasts and budgets.
Establishing and improving financial processes, controls and accounting procedures appropriate for a growing organisation.
Ensuring financial commitments and payments are managed effectively and within agreed deadlines.
Liaising with external accountants, payroll providers and other stakeholders as required.
Working closely with senior finance leadership to implement practical improvements and ensure the finance function operates effectively.
The successful candidate will have:
Significant experience operating as a Finance Manager or in a similarly broad, hands-on accounting role.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, management accounts and cash-flow management.
Recent hands-on experience using QuickBooks would be highly advantageous.
Experience establishing or improving financial processes and controls.
Previous charity or not-for-profit sector experience would be highly desirable.
A flexible, adaptable approach and the willingness to undertake both transactional and management accounting responsibilities.
The confidence to work independently, take ownership of tasks and deliver with minimal supervision.
Experience working within a start-up, small organisation or developing finance function would be advantageous.
Availability to start immediately or at very short notice.
This is an urgent opportunity for a versatile finance professional who enjoys being hands-on and can quickly bring structure, accuracy and consistency to a developing finance function. Candidates who are immediately available are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
