Finance Business Partner

£40k to £44k | Permanent | Mostly Remote | Not-for-Profit Sector

Get closer to the services you support, turning financial information into practical advice that helps managers make better decisions and deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established not-for-profit organisation, supporting a portfolio of critical services delivered across the UK. You’ll work closely with service managers and senior leaders, helping them understand their financial performance, manage budgets and make informed decisions in an environment where resources really matter.

You won’t be sitting on the sidelines producing reports. You’ll build relationships with the people running services, get to understand how they operate and become a trusted contact when they need financial guidance. It’s a role where you can make a genuine difference, with scope to develop your business partnering skills and grow your experience across budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.

What you’ll gain

  • A genuine business partnering role – build relationships with service leaders and become a valued part of the teams you support

  • A portfolio to make your own – develop a strong understanding of different services and the financial challenges they face

  • Room to develop – build on your management accounting experience while broadening your exposure to costings, bids and financial planning

  • Purpose behind the numbers – help ensure resources are managed effectively to support services for children and young people

  • Mostly remote working – work from home, with occasional opportunities to meet colleagues and visit services

What you’ll do

  • Manage budgets worth around £10m–£15m across your portfolio, monitoring performance and investigating variances

  • Produce monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals and financial analysis

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, providing regular reporting and clear recommendations

  • Work directly with budget holders to explain financial performance, resolve issues and support decision-making

  • Support costings, bids, tenders and business cases as opportunities arise

  • Coordinate year-end activity for your services, including responding to audit queries

  • Look for ways to improve financial processes and make reporting more useful to service teams

What you’ll bring

  • Part-qualified with a CCAB accountancy body and actively studying

  • Experience producing monthly management accounts, with exposure to budgeting and forecasting

  • Confidence analysing financial information and explaining it clearly to non-finance colleagues

  • Experience supporting budget holders and providing practical, solution-focused advice

  • The ability to work independently, solve problems and build strong relationships

  • Experience with bids, tenders, costings or business cases would be beneficial

Interested?

If you’re a developing finance professional who enjoys working with people as much as working with numbers, this is an opportunity to build your business partnering experience in a role where your advice can have a meaningful impact. Experience in the charity, public or healthcare sectors could be particularly relevant, but transferable experience from other environments will also be considered.
