We are working with a well-established social housing organisation to appoint an experienced Service Charge Manager to lead its service charge function.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys leading and developing teams, improving processes and delivering a high-quality, resident-focused service.

The organisation is entering an important period of growth and change, with upcoming leasehold reforms creating an opportunity to strengthen systems, improve transparency and shape the future delivery of service charges.

The Role

You will take ownership of the operational delivery of the service charge function, leading a team and ensuring charges are accurate, compliant and effectively managed across different property tenures.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing a team, providing clear direction, support and accountability.

  • Overseeing the end-to-end service charge cycle, ensuring charges are accurate, timely and compliant.

  • Strengthening financial controls, processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Supporting the organisation in preparing for upcoming leasehold reforms.

  • Working closely with teams across the organisation to improve service delivery and ensure effective cost recovery.

  • Analysing complex financial data and producing accurate, meaningful information to support decision-making.

  • Resolving complex resident, customer and stakeholder queries, ensuring fair and timely outcomes.

  • Improving transparency, value for money and the overall resident experience.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve existing processes and drive continuous improvement across the function.

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in a specialist finance function, combining team leadership, financial control, service improvement and stakeholder management.

About You

We are looking for a fully AAT-qualified finance professional with experience managing and developing teams, alongside strong financial and analytical skills.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience leading, motivating and developing a team.

  • A background in finance, accounting, housing or property management.

  • Experience of service charge accounting, cost recovery or relevant legislation would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable financial experience will also be considered.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and complex financial information.

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills and confidence using data to identify trends, resolve issues and improve accuracy.

  • Experience managing complex customer, resident or stakeholder queries.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to a range of audiences.

  • A proactive approach to improving systems, processes and controls.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and delivering a high-quality service.

We are particularly interested in individuals who combine strong financial capability with proven leadership skills and a commitment to improving services for residents.

What’s on Offer?

  • A permanent opportunity within an established social housing organisation.

  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working and flexi-time.

  • An excellent pension scheme with a 14% employer contribution.

  • 25 days' annual leave, increasing to 30 days, plus bank holidays.

  • Access to an onsite gym and employee assistance programme.

  • The opportunity to lead and develop a specialist finance team.

  • Exposure to upcoming leasehold reforms and the opportunity to influence how the service evolves.

  • The chance to make a tangible difference to financial performance, service quality and resident outcomes.
