Procurement Business Partner

An established organisation is looking to appoint a Procurement Business Partner to join a growing procurement function and take ownership of a varied portfolio of complex procurement activity.

The successful candidate will focus on capital works, assets, construction, repairs and maintenance, managing projects from initial stakeholder engagement and sourcing strategy through to tender and contract award.

This is a role for someone who is confident working independently, comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and able to take ownership from day one. You will have the autonomy to run with your projects while working as part of a supportive procurement team.

About the role

• Lead procurement projects across capital works, construction, assets, repairs and maintenance.
• Develop sourcing strategies, considering risk, market conditions, value for money and the most appropriate procurement route.
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, develop specifications and provide pragmatic commercial advice.
• Manage procurement activity from planning through to tender, evaluation and contract award.
• Analyse procurement and contract risks and identify appropriate mitigations.
• Support contract managers with specification development, contract amendments and supplier-related matters.
• Undertake market engagement and work with a range of suppliers, including Tier 1 contractors and SMEs.
• Manage a busy pipeline of projects and ensure activity continues to move forward.
• Support the development of procurement processes, relationships and best practice across the organisation.

About you

The successful candidate will have experience within a regulated public procurement environment and the confidence to operate independently.

Social housing experience is not essential. Backgrounds across housing, property, construction, infrastructure, highways or other large asset-based environments would all be relevant.

You will ideally have:

• Experience delivering complex procurement projects from sourcing strategy through to tender and contract award.
• Strong knowledge of public procurement and the ability to apply relevant regulations in practice.
• Experience within construction, capital works, property, assets, repairs or a similar environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to analyse risk and identify practical solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
• A proactive approach and the ability to manage your own workload without close supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders and suppliers at all levels.

CIPS qualifications are not essential. Commercial acumen, practical procurement experience and the ability to operate independently will be more important.
