We are working with a growing, purpose-led organisation to appoint an experienced Associate Director of Finance to strengthen its financial planning, analysis and business partnering capabilities.

The organisation has experienced a significant period of growth and is continuing to develop its finance function following recent organisational changes. This is an exciting opportunity to join at an important stage in its development, with scope to influence financial strategy, improve reporting and build the business partnering function.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take a leading role in financial planning, modelling and business partnering, working closely with senior operational stakeholders to support strategic and commercial decision-making.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused position, with the majority of your time spent working alongside operational teams, helping them understand financial performance, assess opportunities and make informed decisions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial modelling.

  • Undertaking business appraisals, financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.

  • Developing and improving existing financial models, bespoke spreadsheets and management reporting processes.

  • Supporting the transition towards BRIXX and identifying opportunities to improve financial systems and reporting.

  • Leading the production and interpretation of management accounts, providing meaningful financial insight to operational teams.

  • Acting as a key finance partner to senior operational stakeholders, challenging assumptions and supporting decision-making.

  • Developing financial understanding and accountability across non-finance teams.

  • Supporting year-end activities, working closely with the Financial Controller.

  • Leading and developing the existing finance team, with scope to expand the business partnering capability as the organisation grows.

  • Supporting wider finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and AI.

About you

You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a strong background in FP&A, financial modelling and business partnering.

Experience within the social housing sector would be particularly attractive, although candidates from the wider charity and not-for-profit sectors will also be considered.

You will have demonstrable experience of managing a finance team and partnering effectively with operational stakeholders, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, meaningful insight.

Advanced Excel skills and the ability to build, interrogate and develop complex financial models are essential. Experience with BRIXX would be advantageous, alongside a track record of improving financial processes and supporting organisational change.

Importantly, this is not simply a reporting role. You will need to understand the operational activity behind the numbers, communicate confidently with stakeholders and provide constructive challenge to support better decision-making.

What's on offer?

  • Salary of £70,000–£75,000, depending on experience.

  • Permanent, full-time position.

  • Hybrid working, with approximately three days per week in the office.

  • Opportunity to influence financial strategy within a growing organisation.

  • Scope to develop and expand the finance business partnering function.

  • A varied senior position combining FP&A, financial modelling and operational business partnering.

  • The opportunity to contribute to ongoing finance transformation and process improvement.

  • Future office relocation to a well-connected Hertfordshire location.
