Interim Finance Manager

Fully Remote

Part-Time – 2/3 days a week, for up to three months

£120–£220 per day (Umbrella)

Are you an experienced finance professional with a background in the charity sector and strong Xero skills? This is an exciting opportunity to support a growing charity through a key period of financial systems development and organisational change.

The Role

This charity is expanding its services, creating a need for more robust financial systems, controls and reporting. Following a migration from Sage to Xero, you will play a key role in embedding the new system and supporting the organisation as it grows.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, ICT & Data, you will provide practical financial support while helping to strengthen processes and improve financial visibility across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of Xero, ensuring accurate and efficient financial processes.
  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, invoice processing and payments.
  • Oversee local authority invoicing and support donor-related financial queries.
  • Develop and improve financial reporting, including budget-versus-actual reports for individual budget holders.
  • Work with service managers to review expenditure, monitor budgets and improve financial understanding.
  • Review and strengthen financial controls, including expenses and payment card processes.
  • Provide advice and guidance on financial processes to support the charity's continued growth.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and wider finance projects as required.

About You

We are looking for a hands-on finance professional who can hit the ground running and make a positive impact in a small, evolving finance function.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong practical experience of Xero and financial reporting.
  • Experience in bookkeeping, purchase ledger, payment processing and invoicing.
  • A good understanding of budgeting, financial controls and process improvement.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to recommend improvements.

Interested?

If you have charity-sector finance experience, strong Xero knowledge and are available for an immediate interim assignment, we would love to hear from you.

Please get in touch to discuss the opportunity and find out more.
