We are working with a growing, purpose-led organisation to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to lead its financial control and accounting operations.
Operating across a range of services and locations, the organisation has experienced a significant period of growth and is continuing to develop its finance function following recent organisational changes.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will take responsibility for the financial control environment across the Group and its associated entities, leading an established team across accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial accounting.
This is a broad, hands-on role covering financial reporting, month-end and year-end processes, statutory accounts, external audit, treasury, cashflow forecasting and tax compliance.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading the monthly and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Taking ownership of year-end accounts production and managing the external audit process.
Maintaining the integrity of the balance sheet and ensuring robust financial controls across the organisation.
Overseeing daily cashflow forecasting, treasury management, banking relationships and investment activity.
Managing tax compliance, including VAT, partial exemption, CIS and other relevant statutory obligations.
Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial accounting operations.
Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, financial regulations and internal policies.
Leading, managing and developing the existing finance team.
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting, including automation and AI.
You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant experience operating at Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or Head of Finance level.
You will bring a strong technical background across financial accounting, statutory reporting, audit, treasury and financial controls, alongside experience managing a finance team within a complex, multi-entity organisation.
Experience of tax compliance, particularly VAT and partial exemption, would be beneficial, as would exposure to CIS and investment management.
Previous experience within the housing association, charity or wider not-for-profit sectors would be advantageous, although this is not essential. An understanding of relevant accounting standards, including Housing and Charity SORP, would be particularly useful.
You will be a confident and approachable finance leader, comfortable taking ownership, providing technical guidance and maintaining strong financial governance. Experience of finance systems and process improvement would also be valuable.
Salary of up too £60,000.

Opportunity to lead an established finance team within a growing organisation.
A varied senior position with significant responsibility across a multi-entity group.
The opportunity to contribute to ongoing finance transformation and process improvement.
