Finance Assistant – Accounts Receivable

Robertson Bell is working with a well-established and growing charity in North Yorkshire to recruit a Finance Assistant to join its friendly and collaborative finance team. This is an opportunity to join a financially secure organisation with a supportive culture, a meaningful purpose and a genuine commitment to work-life balance.

The role offers a varied workload, with responsibility for key income processing and reconciliation activities alongside wider exposure to transactional finance. Whether you are looking to develop your existing skills or build a career in finance, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of important processes and grow within an established organisation.

The Role

Working closely with the Accounts Receivable Officer and Accounts Payable Officer, you will be part of a close-knit team with accessible senior colleagues who can provide support and guidance as you develop.

With a primary focus on accounts receivable, you will help ensure income is accurately recorded and reconciled, while contributing to the smooth running of the wider finance function.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of matching donations received through bank receipts and the finance system, ensuring income is accurately recorded.
  • Completing bank reconciliations across a number of smaller accounts.
  • Managing petty cash processing and supporting regular reconciliations.
  • Supporting banking activities, including depositing cheque payments.
  • Administering cash floats and maintaining accurate records.
  • Playing a key role in the administration and efficiency of the charity’s CRM and finance systems, helping resolve day-to-day issues and improve processes.
  • Providing wider finance administration and supporting accounts payable activity during busy periods.

This permanent position offers the chance to build experience across different finance processes, develop your systems knowledge and become a trusted member of the team.

The Person

The charity is looking for a reliable, accurate and personable individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys working collaboratively. A positive attitude, strong attention to detail and a methodical approach are particularly important.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Experience of processing transactions and managing routine financial tasks.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and contribute to a close-knit team.

Candidates at different stages of their finance career are encouraged to apply. The role could suit someone working towards AAT qualifications who wants to develop their practical experience, as well as an experienced Finance Assistant looking for a stable, hands-on position.

Working Pattern & Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent role with a hybrid working pattern of three days in the office each week. There is flexibility to swap office days when needed.

Benefits include:

  • A generous annual leave allowance.
  • Private healthcare.
  • A supportive working environment that values wellbeing and work-life balance.

With a varied remit, approachable colleagues and opportunities to develop your finance skills, this is an excellent opportunity to make a valuable contribution to a purpose-driven charity while building your career.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged.
