Finance Manager
£50k to £53k | Permanent | Hybrid – 2 days in the office | Not-for-Profit Sector
Lead a finance team, improve how things work and help shape the next stage of a finance transformation.
We’re working with a well-established not-for-profit organisation investing in its finance systems and looking to make its finance function more efficient. With a new finance system being implemented and further technology changes planned for next year, there’s a genuine opportunity to improve reporting, automate processes and rethink how the team operates.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys bringing people along with change and finding better ways of working. You’ll lead an established operational finance team, take ownership of month-end reporting and work closely with the Financial Controller to strengthen processes and controls. It would suit someone who wants to combine team leadership with the opportunity to make a tangible difference.
What you’ll gain
- Make your mark: Help shape new processes, improve reporting and identify opportunities to automate routine work.
- Develop your leadership experience: Lead an established team, set direction and support colleagues through changing ways of working.
- Broaden your systems experience: Get involved in finance system improvements and the development of Power BI reporting.
- Enjoy flexibility: Benefit from core hours of 10am–3pm and a flexible approach to working outside these hours.
What you’ll do
- Lead month-end and management accounts across the charity and its trading entities, helping improve reporting accuracy and reduce the time taken to close.
- Manage and support the Income and Accounts Payable teams, providing clear direction and practical guidance.
- Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, controls and reporting as new systems are introduced.
- Support the Financial Controller with year-end, audit and annual accounts, alongside wider operational finance activities.
What you’ll need
- Experience in month-end, management accounts and financial reconciliations, ideally with some exposure to year-end and audit.
- Team management or supervisory experience, or the potential to step into your first formal management role.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement, with the confidence to challenge existing ways of working.
- A willingness to stay hands-on and lead by example.
A professional qualification isn't essential; AAT or equivalent would be beneficial, and candidates qualified by experience will be considered.
