Group FP&A Analyst

Salary: £50,000–£55,000 | Permanent | Independent Education Group | London

Are you a finance professional with a passion for financial analysis, forecasting and turning numbers into meaningful business insights?

We’re working with a well-established group of independent schools to recruit a Group FP&A Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team and play a key role in strengthening financial planning, reporting and decision-making across a multi-site organisation.

Working closely with the Head of Finance and wider Finance team, you’ll support budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and management reporting, helping senior stakeholders understand financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

The Role

You’ll take an active role in the Group’s financial planning and analysis activities, with responsibilities including:

  • Budgeting and forecasting: Supporting annual budgets, reforecasts and longer-term financial plans.

  • Financial modelling: Developing models covering pupil numbers, fee income, staffing costs, operating expenditure and cash flow.

  • Management reporting: Preparing monthly and termly reports, variance analysis, financial commentary and KPIs.

  • Financial performance analysis: Monitoring performance against budget, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and providing insight to support decision-making.

  • Revenue analysis: Analysing fee income, enrolment trends, bursaries, scholarships and pupil retention.

  • Business partnering: Working with Finance, Admissions and school leadership teams to improve forecasting accuracy and financial understanding.

  • Systems and process improvement: Helping enhance reporting tools, dashboards and finance processes, using Excel, Power BI and AccountsIQ.

  • Month-end and year-end support: Assisting with reporting, reconciliations, audit schedules and statutory reporting requirements.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with data, has a strong analytical mindset and can communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience in a finance, management accounts, financial analysis or reporting role.

  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.

  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and financial modelling.

  • Good numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, investigate variances and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • A strong eye for detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • A proactive, collaborative approach and an interest in continuous improvement.

You’ll be part-qualified in ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by experience, with degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience within education, charity or the not-for-profit sector would be advantageous, as would exposure to Power BI, AccountsIQ or other reporting systems.
