A leading social housing organisation is looking to appoint a Financial Planning & Treasury Accountant to take lead responsibility for the Group’s long-term financial planning, business plan modelling and key treasury reporting.
This is a hands-on role with significant exposure to strategic planning, scenario modelling, stress testing, cashflow forecasting, regulatory returns and treasury management. You will work closely with senior finance colleagues, the Executive Leadership Team and Board, providing clear analysis and insight to support long-term financial decision-making.
About the role
- Lead the production and maintenance of the Group’s 30-year Business Plan, including scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis and stress testing.
- Prepare and coordinate key Regulator of Social Housing submissions, including FFR, SDR, FVA and Quarterly Finance & Risk Survey returns.
- Monitor and forecast short and long-term cashflows, ensuring appropriate liquidity and debt levels are maintained.
- Monitor compliance with loan covenants, Treasury Management Policy and treasury Golden Rules, identifying risks and appropriate mitigations.
- Develop and present financial analysis, business plan outputs and stress-testing results to senior management, Committees and Board.
- Maintain the Group’s asset security and investment property registers, working with external valuers where required.
- Maintain and report on the Assets & Liabilities Register.
- Work with finance and operational stakeholders to develop and validate business plan assumptions and ensure plans support the Group’s wider strategy and investment requirements.
- Support the preparation of management information and annual financial statements, including treasury information and supporting audit evidence.
- Provide financial insight and challenge, helping stakeholders understand key risks, trends and the potential impact of different scenarios.
About you
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with at least five years' post-qualification experience and a strong background in financial planning within the social housing sector.
You will have proven experience of:
- Developing and maintaining long-term financial/business plans, including scenario modelling and stress testing.
- Extracting and analysing financial information to build robust models and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Preparing FFR and QFRS regulatory returns and submitting information through NROSH+.
- Advanced Excel, with the ability to manage and analyse large and complex datasets.
- Cashflow forecasting and financial performance analysis.
- Producing clear reports and presentations for senior management, Committees and Board.
- Understanding financial and business risks and developing practical, quantified mitigations.
Experience of BRIXX, treasury management, funding covenants, capital markets, asset security and property valuations would be advantageous.
You will need to be commercially aware, highly analytical and confident translating complex financial information into clear recommendations for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
