Part-Time Finance Manager
£38k–£45k FTE | Permanent | 3 or 4 Days per Week | Flexible Hybrid Working | Non-Profit Sector
Bring the confidence and experience to lead a finance function, influence key decisions and help a community-focused organisation deliver more through its resources.
This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of the finance function within a purpose-driven organisation delivering programmes that make a real difference to its local community. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, you’ll provide the financial oversight, challenge and insight needed to support sound decisions and sustainable growth.
This role needs someone who can hit the ground running. You’ll be trusted to manage the full finance cycle, advise colleagues across the organisation and bring a fresh perspective to how things are done. With scope to improve systems, strengthen financial controls and support plans for future development, you’ll have the autonomy to make a meaningful impact without needing to work five days a week.
Ownership and influence – lead the finance function and act as the go-to person for financial advice across the organisation
A genuine business partner role – work directly with the CEO, leadership team and programme managers to shape decisions
Scope to make improvements – streamline systems, strengthen processes and reduce unnecessary administration
A broad and varied remit – combine financial management with funding, governance, investment oversight and longer-term projects
A flexible working pattern – work 3 or 4 days per week, with flexibility around how your time is arranged
Purpose beyond the numbers – help ensure resources are used effectively to support programmes that benefit the local community
Take full ownership of the finance function, overseeing transactions, ledgers, cash flow, payments and financial controls
Produce monthly management accounts with meaningful commentary, identifying trends, risks and opportunities
Lead budgeting and forecasting, working with programme managers to improve financial understanding and accountability
Provide financial input into grant applications, funding returns and programme-specific reporting
Prepare financial papers for trustees and support the organisation’s financial governance and risk management
Lead year-end accounts and audit activity, working with external advisers where appropriate
Review finance systems and processes, identifying practical improvements to efficiency and reporting
Provide financial insight for longer-term plans, including potential facilities development and investment decisions
Substantial experience managing a finance function or taking responsibility for its day-to-day operation
Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting skills
The confidence to make decisions, challenge constructively and advise senior non-finance stakeholders
Experience overseeing year-end accounts, audit and financial controls, with the judgement to know when to seek specialist support
A track record of improving systems, processes and financial reporting
The ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and bring clarity to a varied workload
A formal accountancy qualification would be useful, but the priority is proven experience, sound judgement and the confidence to lead finance independently.
If you’re an experienced finance professional looking for a role where you can take the lead, influence an organisation’s direction and make a tangible difference, this could be an excellent fit. With a broad remit, direct access to senior leadership and the option to work 3 or 4 days per week, it offers the chance to bring your expertise to a role with real purpose and flexibility.
