Temp Payroll Manager - 6 Months

A well-established organisation is urgently seeking a Payroll Manager to take ownership of its monthly payroll operation during an important period of change. The role offers hybrid working, with travel to the South London office required approximately once per week, and the successful candidate must be available to start ASAP.

The key responsibilities of the Payroll Manager are:

• Taking ownership of the accurate and timely delivery of the monthly payroll.

• Acting as the key point of expertise for payroll processing, queries and compliance.

• Supporting and developing colleagues to strengthen payroll capability across the team.

• Working closely with HR and Finance to improve the flow and accuracy of payroll information.

• Reviewing existing payroll processes and identifying opportunities to improve controls and efficiency.

• Supporting the review and implementation of future payroll and finance systems.

• Driving improvements to create a more robust and sustainable payroll function.

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong end-to-end payroll experience and excellent technical payroll knowledge.

• Previous experience taking ownership of a busy payroll function.

• Experience using a range of payroll systems.

• Previous involvement in payroll process improvement, transformation or systems change.

• Experience supporting, coaching or managing other team members.

• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to drive improvements.

• Availability to start ASAP and travel to South London approximately once per week.
