Robertson Bell are proud to be working with this inspiring national charity in their search for a Financial Controller to join their team in this exciting, newly created role. Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for leading a small team and managing all things Financial Accounting. The charity has also recently undergone a significant period of growth and there are several projects on the horizon that this position will play a critical role in.

The key duties and responsibilities of this Financial Controller role are as follows:

  • Take the lead on the preparation of the annual financial statements, ensuring that all requirements are met and they are submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Full responsibility for managing a team of two accountancy professionals, checking the accuracy of their work, conducting appraisals and giving them opportunities to develop professionally.
  • Manage the full audit process, from planning the timetables and preparing the transaction listing, to acting as the key contact for queries from the External Auditors.
  • Oversee the daily financial accounting processes for the whole organisation, ensuring that all transactional duties have been carried out in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the maintenance and development of strong financial controls, being at the forefront of producing new ideas to improve team and process efficiency as necessary.

This newly created Financial Controller role comes at an exciting time for the charity and offers the perfect opportunity for an ambitious and determined individual who is looking to shape their finance career and make a different across an entire organisation. Although homebased initially, applicants must live within a commutable distance from their head offices in central London.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Fully qualified as an accountancy professional.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts in line with SORP.
  • A background working in the charity sector.
  • Excellent communication skills.
