Interim Senior Financial Accountant

Robertson Bell are supporting a large, complex organisation and highly regarded employer in the York area to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant on a 12-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established finance function within an organisation known for its stability, scale and strong reputation.

This is a hands-on accounting role with responsibility for coordinating and owning key finance processes across a large and complex organisation. The emphasis is on delivery, process ownership and collaboration.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Owning and coordinating key financial reporting and regulatory return processes, working with stakeholders across the organisation.
• Maintaining and developing costing and analysis models, including working with large Excel-based datasets seen across complex environments.
• Supporting month-end and year-end close activity, ensuring processes are well controlled and delivered to timetable.
• Acting as a key point of coordination for audit and regulatory interactions, ensuring accurate and timely information flows.
• Working closely with senior finance colleagues to support forecasting, treasury and wider financial analysis.
• Contributing to ongoing process improvement and change activity within the finance function.

This role does not require line management and will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of defined processes within a broader finance team.

The Person

You will be a qualified accountant with experience operating in large or complex organisations.

You will bring:

• Confidence owning and coordinating finance processes across multiple stakeholders.
• Strong Excel and data analysis capability.
• A pragmatic, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
• Comfort working in environments with established processes and regulatory requirements.

Experience within the public or not-for-profit sector would be beneficial, though candidates from other complex environments are equally encouraged to apply.
