Robertson Bell Finance are proud to be exclusively partnered with SignHealth, a dedicated charity, based in Balham, whose mission is to ensure that Deaf people get the same sort of access as hearing people to healthcare and health information, to recruit for a Finance Manager to join their team in the New Year. Originally established in 1986 as Anastasia trust, the charity has since expanded its reach and offer help for a much broader range of needs involving health issues and general wellbeing of Deaf people. SignHealth is at an exciting period of development and subsequently has a requirement for a Finance Manager to oversee the finance functions of the organisation.
The Key responsibilities of the Finance Manager will be to:
*Work collaboratively with the Director of Finance to improve and develop the financial procedures and controls
*Liaise with other members of the Finance team to ensure all financial records are accurately managed
*Effectively work towards Finance Projects to improve the overall efficiency across the Charity
*Assist the Director of Finance with preparation of Statutory accounts and audit files for each entity at the end of the year
*Assist the Director of Finance to prepare quarterly VAT returns
*Maintain up to date weekly cashflow forecast and work with other members of the team to ensure that SignHealth manages its cash effectively
*Work with the Director of Finance and Resources to review control accounts and reconcilliations each month and ensure that these have been properly completed
*Suggest improvements to the systems and ways of working to increase efficiency or provide a better service to managers and staff
The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified accountant with a real desire to work within the charity sector however this client is happily considering ambitious part qualified accountants who are looking to progress with their studies. A willingness to explore further qualifications is desired as the opportunity to learn sign language is readily encouraged within the organisation. Any candidates who have experience of working in a finance function within a charity are highly encouraged to apply however candidates from other backgrounds will also be considered. The successful candidate will have to be accurate, proactive and an excellent communicator in order to exceed in this role, with strong IT skills including data manipulation in Microsoft Excel. Due to the nature of the organisation, the successful candidate will show empathy towards the needs of SignHealth’s client group and be comfortable working in a diverse environment.
