Robertson Bell are supporting a renowned Public Sector organisation to recruit a Senior Internal Auditor on a permanent contract.
Our client is based in Central London with great public transport links and operate on a hybrid model of three days per week in the office.
The role sits within an incredibly experienced team which is managed in a way that ensures all members have exposure to supporting different areas of the business and the opportunity to get involved in improvement projects. The internal audit function is also held in high regard across the organisation with positive relationships between the team and key stakeholders.
The Senior Internal Auditor will be expected to work with a high level of autonomy and proactivity to:
- Lead independent evaluations of systems and operations to provide assurance on governance, compliance, and internal control effectiveness.
- Design and execute risk-based reviews, to identify and prioritise areas of concern and inform future audit focus.
- Investigate potential fraud or misconduct cases, supporting evidence gathering and advising on methods to reduce exposure to financial or reputational harm.
- Work closely with stakeholders to clarify audit aims, share emerging findings, and build practical, proportionate solutions that strengthen accountability.
- Support the continuous enhancement of internal processes by identifying recurring control weaknesses and recommending systemic improvements.
- Promote a culture of transparency and risk awareness by advising on good governance practices and control frameworks across diverse functions.
Candidates will need to evidence the following:
- Significant experience working with autonomy as an Internal Auditor.
- Strong theoretical knowledge and practical application of risk, controls, assurance and governance.
- A UK recognised Internal Audit or CCAB qualification. Candidates with significant experience that are studying towards completion of a qualification will also be considered.
- Experience working in the not for profit or public sector, or a strong desire to work in this space.
- A high level of IT and Excel competency.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
