The Chartered Institute for Professional Development (CIPD) are exclusive partnering with Robertson Bell to recruit a Finance Business Partner on a permanent basis. The CIPD are the professional body for experts in people at work and for the past 100 years, we have been we've been championing better work and working lives by setting professional standards for HR and people development, as well as driving positive change in the world of work.

This newly created role will be responsible for looking after six of our key departments and is crucial to their financial success and stability. The Finance Business Partner communicates across all teams, working with stakeholders up to Director level and using financial modelling and analysis to provide sound advice to enable strategic decision making. Accountabilities include budgeting, forecasting, management accounts preparation and value adding.

Although homebased initially, candidates applying must live within a reasonable commute from our offices based in Wimbledon, London.

The key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Support budget-holders by interpreting the numbers, providing insight and help chart strategic direction. Constructively challenge assumptions where appropriate.
  • Analyse, interpret and communicate financial and performance data via monthly and other ad hoc reports.
  • Provide timely information and advice to budget-holders, allowing effective management of their budgets and business.
  • Support the Directors responsible for their directorate’s activity with ad hoc financial analysis and reports, challenge and advice.
  • Perform monthly accounting for supported teams.
  • Produce monthly management accounts for supported teams and directorates.
  • Provide data, analysis and commentary on the activities for inclusion in organisation-level management accounts.
  • Work with budget-holders to produce financial forecasts and annual plans, highlighting potential opportunities and risks and progress towards achieving longer term strategic  objectives.
  • Provide analysis and commentary on variances to prior year actuals and current year budget for inclusion in reports for the board and executive team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified or part-qualified as an accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Candidates who are qualified by experience will also be considered.
  • Experience of interacting with senior leaders with confidence, conviction and credibility.
  • The ability to influence key decision-makers.
  • Strong communications skills and report writing abilities
  • A solutions-focused mentality.
  • Prior business partnering and management accounts/financial analysis experience.
