Senior Financial Accountant

Robertson Bell are recruiting a Lead Financial Accountant for a well-established education institution. This is a senior technical accounting role responsible for statutory reporting, financial control, compliance, and external reporting within a complex multi-entity environment, while also leading a Financial Accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and consolidated financial statements
• Oversee consolidations, intercompany reconciliations, and audit working papers
• Manage regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Oversee VAT, corporation tax, and wider tax compliance activities
• Coordinate the external audit process and act as a key contact for external advisors
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, month-end reporting, and financial controls
• Manage reporting timetables and ensure timely delivery across the finance function
• Support process improvements, systems development, and control enhancements
• Lead, develop, and support the Financial Accounting team

The Successful Candidate:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
• Strong technical financial accounting experience, including statutory reporting and consolidations
• Experience within the education, charity, or wider not-for-profit sector
• Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and regulatory reporting
• Experience managing audits and working within complex organisational structures
• Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across finance and non-finance teams
• Proactive approach with the ability to drive process improvements and support change initiatives
