Senior Financial Accountant

London | International Charity | £60k - £62k | Permanent

Take ownership of technical accounting and play a key role in strengthening the finance function of a globally recognised charity.

We’re partnering with an internationally recognised charity to recruit a newly created Senior Financial Accountant role. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant, either from practice or industry, to join a purpose-driven organisation at an exciting stage of development, helping to shape stronger financial processes, improve controls and support the continued evolution of the finance function.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, you’ll have a broad remit covering financial statements, audit, reporting, systems improvement and financial controls. With international programmes, multiple funding streams and multi-currency activity, this role provides excellent exposure to complex charity accounting and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What you’ll gain

  • A genuine opportunity to make your first move from audit into a purpose-led organisation, applying your technical skills in a broader commercial and operational setting.
  • Ownership of key accounting processes, giving you the chance to build your expertise and develop your career beyond pure compliance.
  • Exposure to international charity accounting, donor funding, restricted funds and multi-currency transactions.
  • The opportunity to work closely with an experienced Head of Finance and influence improvements across systems, controls and reporting.
  • A varied role combining technical accounting, problem solving and process improvement, rather than simply producing numbers.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the preparation of financial statements across multiple entities, taking ownership of a key part of the year-end process.
  • Manage the external audit relationship, coordinating timelines, resolving queries and ensuring a smooth audit process.
  • Use your technical accounting expertise to strengthen controls, improve processes and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Play an important role in year-end preparation, ensuring the finance function is ready for key milestones.
  • Support grants and donor reporting, analysing restricted funds and ensuring financial information accurately reflects programme activity.

What you’ll need

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience producing financial statements, either within practice or industry.
  • Audit experience would be highly desirable.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with the confidence to review processes and recommend improvements.
  • A proactive mindset, with the curiosity to question how things are done and identify better ways of working.
  • Charity sector experience would be beneficial but not essential.

If you’re a qualified accountant looking for a role where you can broaden your experience, take ownership and use your technical skills to support meaningful work, we’d love to hear from you.
