A well-established charity is partnering with Robertson Bell to recruit a Management Accountant on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded, part-qualified accountant to join a growing finance function and play a key role in strengthening financial analysis, reporting and business partnering.

This is much more than a traditional management accounting position. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance, supporting management accounts, financial analysis and the continued development of the organisation's finance systems. With significant scope to develop and take on greater responsibility, this role would suit an ambitious finance professional looking for a long-term career opportunity.

The role

  • Produce accurate and insightful monthly management accounts, providing clear analysis to support decision-making.
  • Support the Head of Finance with budgeting, forecasting and wider financial planning.
  • Develop financial analysis around income, expenditure and organisational performance, bringing a strong FP&A mindset to the role.
  • Take ownership of financial data and reporting within Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
  • Use Power BI and Excel to analyse data and develop meaningful financial reporting.
  • Support procurement processes, including maintaining contract registers and monitoring financial commitments.
  • Assist with audit preparation, ensuring financial data and supporting documentation is accurate and readily available.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to improve financial processes, systems and reporting.
  • Support the Finance Officer and contribute to the development of the wider finance function.
  • Take an active role in the continued evolution of the organisation's finance systems and processes.

The organisation

The organisation is an established charity with an ambitious finance function and a clear focus on developing its people and improving the way it uses financial information.

The successful candidate will join a small and collaborative finance team at an exciting point in its development. A new Microsoft Dynamics Business Central system has recently been introduced, creating an opportunity for the successful candidate to play a key role in embedding and developing the system over the coming years.

The organisation is looking for someone who wants to become a genuine strategic partner to the Head of Finance, rather than simply completing a set of reporting tasks. There is significant scope for the successful candidate to grow with the organisation and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Essential criteria

  • Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, or an accountant with significant relevant experience.
  • Strong management accounting experience, including producing and analysing management accounts.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, with an ability to understand income, profitability and organisational performance.
  • Experience supporting audit processes and providing accurate financial information and documentation.
  • A high level of attention to detail, with a strong understanding of the importance of accurate financial data.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders.

The organisation offers a supportive working environment with opportunities for professional development and progression, making this an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Management Accountant looking to build their career within a growing organisation.
