Interim Finance System Project manager

Robertson Bell is proud to be partnering with a well-respected charity in their search for an Interim Finance Systems Project Manager to lead a pivotal systems project over the next nine months. With strong strategic vision and a commitment to modernisation, the finance team is embarking on a key systems upgrade to better serve the wider organisation – and they need a capable, credible project lead to make this happen.
In this role you will:
- Take full ownership of planning, delivery, and oversight of the finance system implementation.
- Develop a robust project plan, clearly defining scope, timelines, deliverables and resource needs.
- Build and lead a project team, fostering cross-departmental collaboration and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement.
- Communicate progress, risks, and milestones to senior stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
- Manage risk mitigation, budgets, and quality assurance throughout all phases of delivery.
- Oversee user training and lead on User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Ensure smooth project closure and handover, with clear documentation and knowledge transfer.

The successful candidate will have:
- A proven track record of successfully delivering finance systems projects within complex organisations.
- Strong project management credentials – ideally APM or PRINCE2 qualified.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience managing hybrid project teams and navigating organisational change.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.
- (Desirable) A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW).
