Robertson Bell are pleased to be partnering with an established not-for-profit organisation to recruit a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this newly developed role will take ownership of the organisation’s statutory accounts and financial reporting, while supporting the income function to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the preparation of the statutory accounts for year-end, coordinating the process and acting as the main contact for external Auditors.
- Oversee month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliations, reviewing work completed by the wider finance team.
- Serve as the key finance liaison during interim and final audits, managing queries and ensuring a smooth process.
- Oversee and enhance accounting processes for designated or restricted income, ensuring correct year-end reporting.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues to enhance financial visibility and support improved financial understanding.
- Line manage an Assistant Financial Accountant, providing guidance and oversight across fixed assets, payroll, and balance sheet areas.
- Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
This role offers a hybrid working pattern, with two days per week in the office. The ideal candidate will:
- Be a fully qualified Accountant (CCAB) with strong technical accounting skills.
- Have experience preparing full statutory accounts and leading on the year-end process.
- Ideally bring knowledge of charity accounting (SORP) and/or restricted funding.
- Possess advanced Excel skills, including use of VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, and PivotTables.
- Have experience of reviewing and improving accounting processes in a complex environment.
- Be a confident communicator, comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders and providing constructive oversight to junior team members.
