Robertson Bell are proud to once again be working with this inspiring, well-known charity to help them find an Assistant Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis in this newly revamped role. Based in London, this role offers exceptional training opportunities and development potential for the future, so is therefore the perfect role for an ambitious individual who is looking to take a step up and is excited at the prospect of assuming more responsibility as time progresses.

The key duties of this Assistant Accountant role are as follows:

  • Take the lead in the month end closure process, ensuring all accounts have been reconciled in a timely fashion.
  • Full responsibility for producing the trial balance and all balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Provide critical support in the annual budget setting process and assist the Head of Finance with the production of the monthly management accounts.
  • Business partner with a variety of stakeholders across the charity to review financial performance in relation to budget, challenging spends as required.
  • Hold regular training sessions with internal stakeholders to enhance financial understanding and support with any related queries.
  • Play a key role in the year end Audit process and ensure the accurate preparation of VAT returns.
  • Deputise for the Head of Finance and support other members of the finance team in occasional ad hoc projects.

This Assistant Accountant role comes at an exciting time for the charity as they are about to embark on a large-scale transformation project, of which this role will play a key role in. Furthermore, my client has adopted an extremely flexible approach to working, with the successful candidate only required to be in the office two or three days per week.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Part-qualified or be actively studying towards a relevant accountancy qualification.
  • Ideally, a background working in the charity sector.
  • Experience assisting with the month end close procedures.
  • Fantastic verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience preparing various types of reconciliations.
