We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to support the delivery of high-quality statutory accounts, regulatory returns, and compliance reporting across the Group.

The Role

You will support the Finance Manager: Statutory Reporting and Compliance in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across the Group, with a strong focus on statutory accounts and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements, including consolidation and working papers
  • Assisting with external audit requirements, providing schedules, documentation, and explanations
  • Preparing regulatory and statutory returns, including VAT, Corporation Tax, ONS, and Regulator of Social Housing submissions
  • Supporting financial statement notes and disclosures
  • Assisting with reconciliations, lead schedules, and analytical reviews
  • Contributing to the Operating Financial Review and benchmarking analysis
  • Ensuring accurate recording of financial data in line with accounting standards
  • Supporting compliance with financial reporting standards, tax legislation, and internal controls
  • Working with the wider Finance team to ensure consistency of reporting
  • Supporting process improvements and automation initiatives

About You

  • Part-qualified and actively studying (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) – essential
  • Some experience in finance or accounting, ideally in a complex organisation
  • Exposure to financial reporting, reconciliations, audit, or statutory accounts
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Eager to learn and develop technical accounting expertise
  • Interest in process improvement and efficient ways of working
