Interim Assistant Director of Finance - Operations

Are you an experienced Housing Finance leader who can bring control to a complex environment under regulatory scrutiny? Can you stabilise operational finance whilst helping a business regain confidence in its numbers, processes and controls?

My client is a large Housing Association in the West Midlands seeking an Interim Assistant Director of Finance - Operations on an initial 6-month FTC.

The role has been created to strengthen grip across operational finance following a challenging period for regulatory pressure and wider organisational change. The successful candidate will focus on stabilising the basics across transactions, rents and service charges, allowing the existing Finance leadership to focus on strategic improvement work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading operational finance teams across transactional finance, rents and service charges
• Strengthening financial controls and improving process consistency
• Bringing structure and accountability into a manual, evolving environment
• Supporting audit readiness and improving confidence in financial reporting
• Acting as a steady senior presence during a period of organisational reset

This will suit someone pragmatic, hands-on and credible who has previously operated in challenging Housing environments and can quickly bring calm and control. The office is easily accessible by public transport and a minimum one day in the office is required for this role.

• Proven senior finance leadership experience within Social Housing
• Strong operational finance and controls background
• Experience improving processes within complex or challenged organisations
• Qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
