Are you an experienced charity finance leader with strong management accounting expertise? Do you enjoy improving reporting processes and creating more meaningful financial insight? Are you confident leading year-end while managing a small finance team within a collaborative organisation?
A small charity is seeking an Interim Head of Finance to join on a 6-9 month fixed-term contract. This is a broad and hands-on leadership role with responsibility for management reporting, year-end and improving the organisation's reporting capability.
The role offers hybrid working, with two days per week required in the Central London office.
Please note: prior charity sector experience is essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing a small finance team of two staff members
- Taking ownership of the monthly management accounting process
- Producing accurate and insightful financial reporting for senior stakeholders
- Leading the year-end process and supporting audit preparation
- Reviewing and improving the reporting suite, helping simplify and streamline reporting outputs
- Supporting the wider organisation with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting requirements
- Using reporting tools to enhance visibility and improve decision-making across the organisation
The successful candidate will have:
- Essential: Previous charity sector experience
- Strong experience producing management accounts and leading year-end processes
- Previous experience managing finance staff within a small or medium-sized organisation
- Excellent Excel skills, including the ability to work confidently with large and complex datasets
- Experience using Power BI and Power Query would be highly desirable
- A proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to improve processes and reporting outputs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non-finance stakeholders
