Are you a fully qualified accountancy professional with experience preparing financial statements? Looking for the opportunity to play a key role in the implementation of a new finance system? Could you confidently coordinate the financial accounts function of a complex establishment? If yes, this could be the role for you!

My client is a residential property developer who are currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. Based in South-East London, this role is responsible for leading technical aspects of the organisation’s financial accounting processes, whilst also providing critical support to the Financial Controller in several exciting, upcoming projects.

The key duties of this Senior Financial Accountant role are as follows:

  • Take the lead in the production of the financial statements for the whole organisation.
  • Play a key role in the year-end audit process, developing schedules, preparing relevant files and answering queries from the External Auditors as required.
  • Full responsibility for preparing VAT returns and ensuring all payroll journal postings have been done in a timely fashion.
  • Provide leadership, training and support to one Assistant Accountant, giving them every opportunity to progress in their career.
  • Provide critical support in the implementation of the new finance system, leading training sessions for internal system users and ensuring all data is accurately maintained.
  • Hold key oversight of the monthly reconciliations process.

This Senior Financial Accountant role is the perfect opportunity for someone with experience in preparing financial statements who is seeking a challenging, hands-on role that will be at the forefront of several efficiency improvements, whilst working under the supportive leadership of an experienced Financial Controller. Furthermore, the organisation has recently adopted an extremely flexible approach to working, with the postholder only required to go into the office one or two days per week for the foreseeable future.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Achieved their full accountancy qualification.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and leading the year-end Audit process.
  • Practical experience of preparing VAT returns.
  • Ideally, a background working in the social housing or charity sectors, but this is by no means essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferably, experience managing a small team.

If you are interested, please submit your CV ASAP as applications are under continuous review and this role is likely to be filled before the closing date.
