Are you looking for a contract opportunity to take the lead in the day to day running of finance in an organisation making a visible difference to lives of Londoners? Do you want to balance team management, senior stakeholder management, as well as making improvements to finance processes? Are you a confident leader who can motivate, inspire and develop staff?

My client is a Housing Association in London whose work is focused on providing London residents with safe, quality homes to live in. Significant increases in funding this year will lead to major projects being undertaken that will focus on better homes, better services, and better safety. The interim Deputy Finance Director will work on a 12 month FTC and will:

  • Oversee the day to day running of finance, managing a qualified accountant and a number of part qualified accountants
  • Ensure sound financial control, and focus on improving processes
  • Focus on improving financial processes for the short term, with a focus on improving the quality of management accounting and reporting
  • Intervene on overspending across key business areas, and oversee key projects such as major refurbishments and renovations
  • Play a key part in the business planning process, supporting the Executive Leadership Team by providing sound financial information and advice, as well as lead in Treasury areas such as cash flows and lender relationship management.

This is a great opportunity to have an impact on a growing organisation in the short term and provide stability and leadership in Finance at a crucial time.

Owing to the success of remote working, it is possible to complete this role entirely remotely, though the office space in London is on offer.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a fully qualified accountant with substantial senior leadership experience in the Housing sector
  • Have broad exposure across both financial and management accounting, as well as being able to have a big impact on a diverse team in a short time frame
  • Be an expert communicator, known for gaining the trust and respect of both junior team members and senior stakeholders alike
  • Be an excellent leader of teams, able to make big decisions with the support of the team and motiviate and inspire more junior members to deliver their best.
