Could you lead on all things finance and contribute to the long term strategic plan of a growing organisation? Are you an experienced Head of Finance within the charity sector? Keen to be a part of a community driven charity? If yes, this could be your next role!

Robertson Bell are working with this small but vibrant charity whilst they recruit to this permanent Head of Finance role. Reporting into the CEO you would have three direct reports. Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Leading the complete finance function and managing the relationship with the outsourced IT provider.
  • Prepare board packs and present these at regular meetings as well as being a part of the audit and risk committee.
  • Contribute to the creation and development of the charity’s long term strategic plan.
  • Review and sign off the management accounts and lead on the statutory accounts.
  • Hold full responsibility for all financial planning and analysis you will lead on all budgeting and forecasting.
  • Work closely with the CEO on business cases and plans and any applications for external grants.
  • Managing the finance system and overview all processes and controls ensuring any improvements are rolled out effectively.
  • Leading on complex Tax and VAT matters ensuring the organisation complies with necessary regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Managing the finance team, offering opportunity for necessary development and training and ensuring a high performing culture.

This full time Head of Finance role will officially be based out of the charity’s head office in west London however flexible working from home will be on offer. This position would best suit a fully qualified or qualified by experience Accountant who has had previous experience in the not-for-profit sector.

The successful candidate will:

  • Either be qualified by experience or be a fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA)
  • Have previously led on month and year-end reporting.
  • Be a strong communicator.
  • Have proven experience in the charity sector.
  • Be self-motivated, driven and ambitious.
  • Have previously managed staff.
