Are you looking for a new role in which your senior Procurement skillset will be valued and tested? Do you want to create and lead a team that will delivery category management in niche environments? Are you looking for a home-based contract where you will be measured on what you deliver?

My client is a housebuilder and Housing provider in the Birmingham area that is experiencing rapid growth and whose turnover is approaching £400m. A major restructure has resulted in drastic changes in the way Procurement is being run, creating a wonderful opportunity for a Head of Category Management to:

  • Recruit, build, and lead a high functioning team of Category Managers and specialist procurement professionals
  • Provide a first-class service to the wider business that ensures value for money decisions are made, strong relationships with trusted suppliers are built, and contract expenditure is driven down
  • Engage with, support, challenge, and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders within the business to drive through cost savings in their spending
  • Oversee the work of a newly formed team, assessing KPIs and deliverables, as well as taking a hands-on category management role with the most complex and high-value categories
  • Promote a culture of development and progression within the team, supporting team members in their professional development.

As an organisation that has performed exceptionally well throughout the pandemic, the decision has been made that contracts can be largely home-based, though a presence on site will be expected post-Covid to ensure that the best service is delivered. However, the opportunity to be based largely from home is on offer if the ideal candidate is able to deliver consistent results remotely.

There is an excellent benefits package as well as the opportunity to be responsible for building your own team, shaping the function how you see fit, and apply a creative approach where your Director won’t hold you back. Furthermore, you can expect see the role evolve in the near future according to the company’s exceptional pattern of growth.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have substantial experience in a senior Procurement position, ideally within the Housebuilding/Facilities Management/Housing/Construction sectors
  • Demonstrate a history of delivering significant savings across large budget sizes
  • Be a confident team leader with proven expertise in team building and supporting staff development
  • Be a truly excellent communicator who can build successful working relationships with the most senior stakeholders

Applications are under constant review and the post can close as soon as the right candidate comes forward. Please don’t delay your application!
