Are you an experienced Head or Director of Finance seeking a new role? Would you like to work for a Christian charity where each employee plays a key role in making their mission a reality? Could you lead a large department with direct responsibility for five direct reports? If yes, this could be your next role!

Robertson Bell are pleased to be working with this inspiring Christian charity whilst they recruit for a permanent Director of Finance. Reporting straight into the COO you will play a vital part in delivering the strategy of the organisation whilst managing both the finance and fundraising teams. Main duties for this role will include:

  • Management of five direct reports and an overall team of ten, ensuring you are leading a high performing department, recognising areas of improvement and offering training and necessary support.
  • Work closely with the COO providing oversight on the strategic direction of the charity and carry out complex high-level analysis to enable sensible decision making.
  • Ensure best practice is carried out at all times and tight financial controls are maintained.
  • Create and prepare board packs and present this to the board.
  • Provide management around all donor processing and administration.
  • Work on key projects and maintain the risk register finding solutions to any potential problems.
  • Oversee the budget setting process and lead on forecasting.
  • Reviewing and signing off financial statements and the monthly management accounts.
  • Check the giving report before circulating with the leadership team.

This permanent Director of Finance role is a great opportunity for candidates with previous management experience and varied finance experience. Candidates from any sector are encouraged to apply however previous experience working in a charity would be a huge advantage. This role would be officially based at the organisations head office in southwest London however you will have the option of working from home a couple of times a week.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A full accountancy qualification.
  • Proven experience working in a leadership role within finance.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Previously led on the year-end process.
  • Demonstrable staff management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
