My client is a Housing Association based in London looking for a Service Charge Accountant to take on a senior role filled with an excellent scope for development and growth.

The main responsibilities of the Service Charge Accountant are as follows:

  • Full responsibility for the preparation of all monthly, quarterly and yearly service charge accounts.
  • Take the lead in the annual service charge budget setting process, answering any queries from internal and external stakeholders throughout this process and challenging them on their budgets if required.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all audit queries related to the service charge accounts.
  • Line manage one junior service charge member of staff, helping them to develop and creating a highly performing team.

The successful candidate for the Service Charge Accountant role will have:

  • Previous experience of working in a service charge accountancy role, with experience of being part of the service charge budget setting process essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of service charge legislation, in particular Section 20 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.
  • Ideally started working towards an accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.).
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.).
