My client is a leading public sector organisation based in Bedfordshire looking for a Project Accountant to join the team as part of their £100m transformation project which focuses on the repurposing, renovation and construction of numerous properties.

The main responsibilities for the Project Accountant role are as follows:

  • Liaise closely with a number of project managers to discuss their finances with them, acting as a key financial point of contact for the project.
  • Produce project forecasts and lead on the analysis of any variances that there between the project actuals and original budget.
  • Play a key role in the preparation of the budgets for various areas of the project.
  • Provide excellent analysis of the costs of individual sites and construction projects to ensure that these costs are feasibly able to fit within the budget.

The successful candidate for the Project Accountant role will have:

  • At the very minimum completed their AAT level 4 or have a relevant accountancy/finance degree.
  • Experience of working on the finances for projects.
  • Ideally experience of working within the public, construction, social housing or property sectors, however, candidates without this are still encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience of explaining any form of financial information to non-finance members of staff e.g. what an accrual is.
