South West London | Hybrid | £40,000 - £51,000 | 2-Year Fixed Term Contract

Robertson Bell is proud to be supporting a large and complex public sector organisation in South West London in the search for a Management Accountant. This two-year fixed term opportunity is ideal for a finance professional who thrives on variety, wants to make a tangible difference, and is looking to develop into a Finance Business Partnering role in the future.

About the Organisation

This is a diverse and fast-paced environment, home to a wide array of essential public services. The finance team is undergoing positive development, strengthening its financial insight and support for senior stakeholders. With long-term change programmes already underway, this is an exciting time to step in and help shape the financial narrative of a major institution.

About the Role

This is a role for someone who enjoys being at the centre of financial operations, juggling a range of accounts, driving improvements in reporting and control, and keeping senior decision-makers well-informed. You'll play a key role in the production of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for committee, and you'll help ensure sound financial governance across your area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of accounts or services, taking ownership of financial controls and reporting
  • Assisting in the preparation of detailed budgets, forecasts, and long-term expenditure plans
  • Supporting the year-end process and liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Producing statutory and grant returns, and ensuring accurate monitoring of grant-related income and spend
  • Analysing variances, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending corrective actions where necessary
  • Supporting the implementation of effective financial and administrative systems across the department

About You

We're looking for a detail-oriented and highly organised individual with strong technical skills and a drive to improve processes. You'll need:

  • Proven experience in managing complex finance timetables and multitasking across priorities
  • Strong ability to interpret financial guidance, technical information, and translate it into meaningful insight
  • Confidence in producing committee-level reports and communicating financial matters clearly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with senior stakeholders and auditors
  • Proficiency in Excel and other financial systems for data manipulation and analysis

Why Apply?

In addition to the rewarding nature of the work itself, you'll enjoy an impressive benefits package:

  • Over 30 days annual leave
  • Enhanced pension scheme
  • Salary sacrifice schemes
  • Comprehensive health and wellbeing programmes
  • High street discounts, and more

If you're looking for a role that offers real scope to grow, both technically and professionally, this is a brilliant opportunity to do just that, while helping a key organisation deliver vital services to the public.
