My client is an inspiring charity based in Dumfries and Robertson Bell are proud to be partnering with them in their search for this Finance Assistant role on a permanent basis. This is a unique opportunity for someone in the early stages of their finance career, who has the drive and ambition to take control of their own professional development, as my client is happy to tailor the responsibilities to the successful individual. In addition to this, the successful candidate will be offered a study support package, flexible working arrangements and 25 days annual leave.

The basic responsibilities of this Finance Assistant role are as follows:

  • Take the lead on the management of all aspects of the purchase ledger, ensuring that all data is entered correctly into the system and that all payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Play a key role obtaining invoice authorisations and approvals from relevant stakeholders and manage the weekly payment run process.
  • Provide invaluable support in key month end tasks, such as the preparation of various reconciliations and journals as required.
  • Be at the forefront of producing new ideas related to improving the efficiency of the team’s current accounting processes.
  • Produce ad hoc reports for the senior management team and deputise for the line manager at busy periods throughout the year.
  • Undertake occasional international travel to countries where this organisation has a notable presence, working closely with the in-country teams to add value.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working in a finance function of a similar capacity.
  • The desire to, or already be actively studying towards a relevant accountancy qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a flexible approach to working and the determination and enthusiasm to learn on the job.
  • A passion for international development.
