Senior Financial Accountant

This highly unique governmental organisation is currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team on a two year fixed term contract. Reporting into the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for managing a small team to drive and execute a variety of monthly, quarterly and yearly technical accounting tasks across some of the organisation’s highest profile divisions. You will use your technical expertise to interpret some highly complex project financials into actionable deliverables, enabling the organisation to delivered a tailored service to their customers.

The key duties of this Senior Financial Accountant role are as follows:

• Have critical input into the production of the annual accounts, taking the lead for several of your own areas.
• Be a key financial advisor to the business, providing advice on the financial logistics of new product offerings, taking into consideration the impact on reporting and accounting.
• Critically review the monthly management accounts, commentaries and variance analysis as produced by the team, challenging and refining the numbers before submission to SMT.
• Be a key contact for the External Auditors, taking full responsibility for designated areas and ensuring queries are responded to in a timely manner.
• Review the work of the team, ensuring accuracy and providing opportunities for upskilling where necessary.
• Gather deal forecasting data from the wider business, translating pipeline into financial terms to produce budget and cashflow data.
• Work closely with the Operations Teams, ensuring the integrity of data that is captured on the system.

The successful candidate will have:

• A full CCAB or CIMA Qualification.
• A strong technical accounting background.
• Ideally, experience working in either the central government or financial services sectors, but this is by no means essential.
• Demonstrable leadership qualities and an affinity for large datasets in Excel.
• Experience working on a complex technical project or implementation.
