Are you a fully qualified accountant with strong technical experience in year-end and audit?
Do you have a methodical approach to data and a passion for driving improvements?
Keen to work in a meaningful organisation making a tangible difference?
We’re partnering with a well-established charity supporting housing and community services to find two confident and proactive Year-End Accountants, both on six month fixed term contracts. This is a key role with high visibility, helping to deliver high-quality financial reporting and support a major finance transformation project. It’s ideally suited to someone who has recently qualified in practice or comes with strong housing or third-sector experience.
You’ll be taking ownership of financial reporting responsibilities, ensuring reconciliations, lead schedules, and audit deliverables are completed to a high standard. The work is hands-on, detailed, and essential to helping the wider organisation meet audit and statutory obligations.
Key responsibilities:
Prepare and reconcile lead schedules to the trial balance
Own and update statutory reporting documents in collaboration with internal teams
Support the audit process, responding to queries and ensuring accurate financial submissions
Assist with journal posting, AP/AR processes and financial data integrity
Contribute to core finance projects, particularly around process improvement and system upgrades
Build strong relationships with non-financial stakeholders across housing and service teams
Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) – essential
Strong experience in audit prep, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting
Comfortable working in a busy, hands-on finance team under tight deadlines
Excellent Excel skills (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, MATCH) and confidence working with financial systems
A collaborative and resilient personality – ready to step into a team that’s under pressure and help drive change
Exposure to housing, charity, or education sectors is desirable but not essential
Process improvement mindset – eager to question inefficiencies and suggest better ways of working
