As a Trainee Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring all financial transactions are processed and recorded accurately and on time. Reporting to the Lead Financial Accountant, you will collaborate closely with the finance team and colleagues across departments to maintain the integrity of revenue, costs, and balance sheet reconciliations. Your contribution will support smooth financial operations and reliable reporting.

The key duties of this Assistant Financial Accountant will be:

  • Processing and reconciling revenue, costs, and balance sheet accounts with precision
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
  • Preparing and posting journals, including cost recodes and project accounting entries
  • Liaising effectively with auditors, banks, external parties, and internal teams to resolve queries
  • Supporting banking, treasury reporting, and sales ledger activities
  • Assisting with the preparation and migration of financial data to a new system, suggesting improvements
  • Providing backup cover to ensure continuity of financial processes
  • Supporting team training and compliance with financial policies

The successful candidate will be:

  • AAT Qualified, or beyond the first level of their CCAB qualification
  • A well rounded finance professional familiar with accruals and prepayments
  • An effective communicator, capable of building strong working relationships internally and externally
  • Proactive and inquisitive, with a strong attention to detail and the confidence to improve processes
  • Adaptable and motivated, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to work independently and manage a varied, fast-paced workload

Please note that this role will be based on site near Brackley, although opportunities to work from home are on offer for two days per week.
