Temporary Year End Accountant - Charity Experience Essential - Bristol
A Bristol-based charity is seeking an experienced Interim Year-End Accountant to support the finance team during a critical period leading into year-end. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Financial Accountant with Charity SORP expertise to make a tangible impact within a purpose-led organisation.
Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of key year-end processes, ensuring the organisation’s financial records are accurate, compliant and audit-ready. The role requires a hands-on professional who can quickly assess existing processes, strengthen controls and help bring the accounts to a clean and robust position.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading on balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurate and fully supported
- Preparing statutory accounts in line with Charity SORP
- Reviewing and tidying up historical accounting entries to ensure the ledgers are in a strong position ahead of audit
- Supporting the wider finance team with year-end close activities
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and assisting with any audit preparation requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified or qualified-by-experience Financial Accountant
- Have strong Charity SORP knowledge, with demonstrable experience preparing charity statutory accounts
- Possess excellent balance sheet and technical accounting skills
- Be comfortable working autonomously and adding value quickly in an interim capacity
This role offers hybrid working, with 1–2 days per week in the Bristol office and the remainder working from home. The contract will run for approximately three months, and the organisation is looking for someone who can start at short notice.
