Temporary Research Accountant

Are you an experienced Research Accountant with a strong track record of managing grant and project accounts? Do you have the ability to work through complex reconciliations and bring accounts to closure efficiently? Can you step into a busy environment and deliver immediate impact?

An organisation is seeking an Interim Research Accountant to support with clearing a backlog of research accounts, ensuring accurate reconciliation and timely close-down of a varied portfolio of projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reconciling and closing a portfolio of research and grant-funded accounts
• Reviewing account balances to identify surpluses or deficits and determining appropriate actions
• Supporting the resolution of outstanding financial issues across projects
• Assisting with monthly reporting and providing insight to senior stakeholders
• Ensuring accurate financial management across both commercial and non-commercial projects

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience managing research or grant-funded accounts within a complex organisation
• Strong reconciliation skills and the ability to resolve historic accounting issues
• Experience working with NHS funding or within an NHS environment — essential
• Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant status (or equivalent experience)
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Familiarity with large financial systems
