Temporary Head of Finance - Charity Experience Essential

Are you an experienced charity finance leader who is equally comfortable improving processes and getting stuck into the detail? Do you have strong year-end, reporting and finance systems experience? Are you looking for a fully remote interim opportunity where you can make an immediate impact?

A well-established charity is seeking an Interim Head of Finance to provide additional senior finance capacity during a busy period. This role is fully remote and can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, with responsibilities reflected accordingly. The role can also be offered outside IR35 due to the organisation meeting the small company exemption.

Previous charity sector experience is essential for this role.

The key responsibilities of the Interim Head of Finance are:

• Supporting the finance team through year-end and ensuring key accounting activities are delivered accurately and on time.

• Improving management reporting and developing more effective rolling financial information.

• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial scenario planning.

• Reviewing ledger accuracy and strengthening underlying financial processes and controls.

• Remaining hands-on with journals, approvals, reconciliations and other day-to-day finance activities where required.

• Identifying issues within financial data and implementing practical improvements to systems and reporting.

• Providing senior-level support and guidance to the existing finance team.

The successful candidate will have:

• Significant previous charity sector finance experience – essential.

• A recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is highly desirable.

• Previous experience operating at Head of Finance, Financial Controller or Finance Director level.

• Strong year-end, management reporting, budgeting and finance systems experience.

• A hands-on approach and willingness to support both strategic and routine finance activities.

• The ability to work independently, quickly identify issues and deliver solutions with minimal supervision.
