A well-established charity is seeking an Interim Grants Finance Analyst to join its finance team on an initial 2-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension. This is a fully remote opportunity offering the chance to support a busy finance function during a critical reporting period.
Please note: Previous charity sector experience is essential for this role.
The key responsibilities of the Interim Grants Finance Analyst are:
- Taking ownership of the reconciliation and monitoring of restricted funds, ensuring income and expenditure are accurately recorded.
- Monitoring grant balances, identifying funds that are at risk of underspend and highlighting potential issues to key stakeholders.
- Supporting the preparation of financial reports for grant funders, ensuring reporting requirements and deadlines are met.
- Working closely with budget holders and fundraising teams to investigate coding issues and ensure expenditure is allocated correctly.
- Providing month-end support through detailed reconciliations, analysis and validation of financial information.
- Reviewing management information, identifying anomalies and ensuring financial reports are accurate and reliable.
- Supporting the integrity of financial data by validating reporting outputs and investigating discrepancies.
- Providing financial insight to help improve grant reporting processes and strengthen financial controls.
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous charity sector experience, which is essential.
- A strong understanding of restricted fund accounting and grant finance.
- Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience preparing or supporting grant and funder financial reporting.
- The confidence to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
- A professional accounting qualification would be advantageous, although strong qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
- Experience using Xledger would be beneficial but is not essential.
