Temporary Assistant Accountant

We are seeking a highly organised Assistant Accountant to join a charity finance team on a 3-month temporary basis. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key finance processes, work closely with the Financial Controller, and be part of a busy team handling a variety of transactions each month. You will be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts, supporting month-end close, and providing detailed reports. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently will be critical to success.

The role is based in Nottingham on a hybrid basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing purchase ledgers across multiple entities
• Downloading and processing invoices (200–250 per month)
• Completing month-end tasks, including bank reconciliations and daily statement checks
• Preparing and processing bank payment runs with authorisation from the Financial Controller
• Reconciling supplier statements and posting journals (sales, depreciation, rent, service charges)
• Updating online stock purchases
• Providing detailed financial reports for income and expenditure
• Managing finance inbox and supporting team communications

Candidate Profile:

• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
• Previous experience in month-end processes essential
• Charity or non-profit finance experience advantageous but not essential
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams)
• Strong communication skills and team-oriented
