Service Charge Officer – £32,000 to £34,000 – South Hertfordshire (Hybrid)

3 days in the office | Permanent | Full-time (37 hours/week)

We’re hiring a Service Charge Officer to support rent, service charge, and accountancy processes for a socially focused organisation based in South Hertfordshire. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong eye for detail and a passion for financial accuracy to make a meaningful impact in a purpose-driven setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in calculating new service charges and reviewing historical charges for accuracy

  • Analyse transactional service charge data and maintain records using spreadsheets and financial systems

  • Post tenant rent payments onto the housing management system in a timely and accurate manner

  • Respond to rent-related queries and carry out monthly rent reconciliations

  • Process approximately 50 invoices annually, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and prompt payment

  • Manage the aged debt process and support actions to recover outstanding balances

  • Demonstrate and document payment workflows for external audits and internal compliance

Person Specification

  • Proven experience or familiarity with rents and service charges is highly desirable, especially within a housing or property finance context

  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to confidently manage and analyse large datasets using formulas, pivot tables, and lookups

  • A meticulous eye for detail and a naturally analytical mindset, with a commitment to accuracy and getting things right first time

  • Someone proactive and eager to grow—this role offers the chance to take on increasing responsibility and develop your skillset in a supportive, hands-on environment
