This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected not-for-profit in Kent as a Service Charge Analyst, a vital role within the organisation’s finance team.

As the in-house expert on rents and service charges, you’ll be responsible for setting and reviewing charges, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and compliance at every stage. You’ll play a central role in making sure customers receive clear and timely information, while also advising colleagues across the organisation to ensure processes run smoothly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the annual rent, ground rent and service charge reviews, ensuring statutory notices are issued on time and processes are fully compliant

  • Accurately estimate and reconcile service charges for tenants, leaseholders, shared owners and freeholders, based on actual costs and current legislation

  • Prepare budgets for new schemes, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure agreements are appropriate

  • Produce accurate year-end accounts and assist with balance sheet reconciliations

  • Provide information and evidence for First Tier Tribunal cases where required

  • Continuously review and refine rent and service charge procedures to improve efficiency while maintaining full regulatory compliance

  • Act as a key point of contact for queries from customers, colleagues, and local authorities, resolving issues promptly and accurately

Person Specification

  • Strong knowledge of service charge processes, ideally gained in the property sector

  • Solid understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and best practice relating to service charge setting

  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail

  • Proficient in Excel and confident working with large and complex data sets

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both colleagues and customers

  • Experience of preparing budgets, reconciliations, and year-end accounts would be an advantage
