Are you looking for a role where you can make a real impact in finance operations? Do you have strong organisational skills, confidence in handling fee administration, and a keen eye for detail? Are you seeking a supportive yet dynamic environment where no two days are the same? If yes, read on!

A reputable school is seeking a School Assistant Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. This role offers a varied workload, covering everything from transactions, supplier management and supporting the month- and year-end processes. Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will become a key contact for staff, suppliers, and parents, ensuring smooth day-to-day financial operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as the main contact for fee invoicing, debtor management, and payment arrangements.
  • Manage the purchase ledger, including invoice processing, supplier maintenance, and monthly payment runs.
  • Oversee credit cards, staff expenses, and supplier reconciliations.
  • Support staff with procurement processes and supplier negotiations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close, as well as external audit preparation.
  • Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and act as a first point of contact for finance queries.

Based in Central London, this role offers a generous annual leave allowance, a generous pension and free lunches. Due to the nature of the role, you will be required on-site 5 days per week during term-time.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold an AAT qualification (or be working towards) or have equivalent finance experience.
  • Have a good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and experience processing a high volume of invoices.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisation, task management, and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Be adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, varied environment.
  • Ideally, bring experience from a similar school environment.

Applications are under review on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged.
