Are you an experienced Rent Processing professional with a background in Social Housing? Do you enjoy working independently, taking ownership of rent ledgers and ensuring accounts are accurate and up to date? Looking for an interim contract with flexibility and the opportunity to make an immediate impact?

Robertson Bell are supporting a well-established Housing Association to recruit an Interim Rent Processing Officer on an initial three-month contract. Joining a small, supportive finance team, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate rent accounts while allowing senior colleagues to focus on wider strategic priorities. This is a hands-on finance processing role rather than an income collection or housing management position.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing daily rent transactions and maintaining accurate rent ledgers.
  • Posting rent receipts, standing orders, Direct Debits and Housing Benefit/Universal Credit payments.
  • Reconciling rent accounts and supporting month-end rent ledger close.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies across rent accounts.
  • Preparing and manipulating Excel templates for data imports.
  • Responding to rent account queries from internal colleagues and providing accurate financial information.
  • Supporting wider rent account reconciliations and continuous improvement activity where capacity allows.

The organisation offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation of approximately one day per week in the office, although this can be adapted for the right candidate. Applications from candidates seeking full-time, part-time or reduced-hours working will all be considered, provided the required workload can be delivered.

To be considered, please meet the following criteria:

  • Previous experience processing rent accounts within a Social Housing environment.
  • Strong understanding of rent ledgers, Housing Benefit and Universal Credit transactions.
  • Good reconciliation skills and the ability to interpret rent accounts confidently.
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
  • A proactive, self-sufficient approach with the confidence to work independently after an initial handover.
  • Experience of Omni Ledger/Pyramid would be advantageous but is not essential.

Interviews will take place on a rolling basis, so if you're available to start at short notice and have the experience to hit the ground running, we'd love to hear from you.
