Robertson Bell are supporting a well-established, values-led organisation to recruit a Payroll Manager on an 18-month fixed term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a busy, end-to-end payroll function within a collaborative People and Finance environment.

Reporting to the Director of People, you will manage the full monthly payroll cycle for a workforce of around 1,000 employees, including permanent and sessional staff. The payroll is well-established and running smoothly, with strong internal processes in place.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the full end-to-end monthly payroll process
  • Processing payroll through iTrent (MHR), ensuring all inputs are accurate and submitted in line with deadlines
  • Managing pensions administration, including uploads and compliance with opt-in/opt-out requirements
  • Ensuring timely and accurate HMRC submissions
  • Handling payroll queries and providing clear guidance to staff
  • Completing reconciliations (gross-to-net/net-to-gross) and producing payroll reports
  • Supporting ongoing system improvements, including future payroll system enhancements

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience running end-to-end payroll
  • Strong working knowledge of iTrent
  • Up-to-date knowledge of HMRC regulations, statutory payments and pensions administration
  • Confidence managing payroll queries and stakeholder relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • This role requires a proactive and organised individual who can quickly build relationships across People and Finance teams.
